LIVING ROOM INSPIRATION

This inspiration room has gray sofas and a dark floor.

After searching navy fabric to match the rug - I was having a very very difficult time and never satisfied.  When I get like that I feel I am forcing something that is wrong.

So I thought of this photo - Gray is where the upholstery needs to be.  With Navy accents. 

Many of the Navy fabrics were expensive but looked cheap - and I wasn't satisfied with the wear-ability for an active family. 

CURRENTLY

Sofa vs tv placement: Sitting two times the distance relative to the screen size is a good general rule.  For a 42 inch TV, seating should be about 7 feet away.  You're TV screen seems very small for the scale of the room.  That's why I brought everything forward. 

I think the wall has to go dramatic.  To light and it's just a wall. 

OR PUNCH WITH A CONTEMPORARY TWIST

The large cabinet and bookshelves can be centered on the back wall behind the sofa.   If the sofa is brought forward some more, then a chair can pull up to the console table a a desk (behind the sofa). 

DINING ROOM

The curtain needs to go black nubby linen to match the rug. 
Then add bright silver accents - these clocks were found in Repulse Bay 

The rooms look dark in the photo - but remember only 1 wall is painted.  I love the celery green punch.  The rest are cream.  There is also a full size window.  
To add another layer of punch - add a large plant. 

The inspiration came from the wall in the renovated United Center - black accents.

EASY CHAIR With a Navy Pillow and antique Silver Nail Heads. 

Recover the ottoman in a gray velvet - keep the some of the tufting for drama.

A metal floor lamp in black.  (Floor lamps are very heard to find in HK).  But use a linen barrel shade.

Too Large a Cabinet

And to anchor the back wall and pull the look together - a large chinoiserie cabinet.  Great for hiding toys.

Another option

I love the design on the doors.  I found this photo on the left without the painting.  

Just sent this - no price. But great looking item.  
Need to cut off 3" on the legs for the elevator. 
Paint it high gloss black - or very dark gray.
You could even take the doors off and paint the inside blue to match the rug and have display area.  

So the mirror doesn't feel like it's floating above the Louis chair - maybe add a small cabinet. 
You can never have enough storage for kids.

A simple bedroom starting starting with blue toile pillows : robin egg blue accent pillows: matelasse coverlette:  a painting of a rustic countryside home: and a linen love seat.  This is screaming "French".

I found these dressers in the factories - they are old English style

I found this in the unfinished pile in the warehouse.  Originally I only saw the lower part - and they dug out the mirror.  It's really unique.  Again - paint it a cream - and still leave only the top a brown stain.  The upper half is also cream.

CONSOLE TABLE 

Here's my dilemma   The sofa is 122" long with the 2 pieces.  

So I am only recommending 76" - 78",  which leaves 23" on either side of it empty.

This all must be centered in the room to work. 

But as you can see from the floor plan - you need spots - and not just a tray on the ottoman  - to place a drink when guest are over. 

One lamp on the console won't work - it will be floating in an awkward spot.  That's why you need a pair on the console.  

If a lamp shade is about 16" wide x 2 shades = 32".

If the console is 76" - 36" = 40" between the shade.

A second alternative is place a floor lamp in the corner and leave the console table open for other items.   You can even use 2 floor lamps on either side if you want more light and balance/drama. The shade would be larger at 18" - maybe a cream linen to play off the curtains.

A 3rd option is to purchase 2 inexpensive IKEA consoles. 

$1990 x 2 = $3980 x 20% comm = $4776

Together = 118" : perfect for the 122" sofa width. My opinion - they are still too low - so I need to keep looking.

Prices are all over the board from 4 different factories.  It's been hard to pin this down.

 76" w x 15" d x 30" high console table with brace.  For this large of table you need a brace - the legs will not be secure.

GUEST ROOM/ OFFICE

I am quoting with this painted high gloss white. 

• This is quoted in solid wood - not MDF or plywood - so you may think it's high.
• Computer screen = 26" wide. 
• The ladder sides = 1" each.  
• So there is only 2" on each side of the screen. 
• The wall space is 28" - therefore this will overlap into the curtains by 4" .

Guest Room Floor plan

• If you center the bed under the window - that leaves 8" on one side and the opposite/desk wall space is only 28" because of the curtains. 
• If you change the design of the desk - so it's not a ladder - you could probably get it down to 30" wide.  - a slight overlapping into the curtains. Leaves 2" on each side of screen.
• But there is no room for a lamp anywhere. 

• The bed is not centered in the windows.   
• The wall is 102" - desk 32" - Bedframe 62" = 8" left on that wall. 
•  You need a few inches between each item.  There is no more room. 
• The closet doors need 21" open.  

IKEA BED FRAME

Is it worth getting another bed frame?  What about just adding a bed skirt with storage bins underneath. You can only get into 1 drawer with this placement.
